This course is about managing the flow of products from origin through transformation (i.e. procurement, production, and distribution) to delivery to the ultimate user. The supply chain management process is directly linked to e-commerce, as it is the biggest commercial user of Internet services. The course is designed to be strategic in orientation, emphasizing the framework of the supply chain and the context of management decisions. It does not emphasize quantitative methods as technique sometimes detracts from understanding concepts.
For each session, we will have one hour of lecture and discussion, a case, and a concluding with new developments in the field, except for the first and last sessions. Readings include designated chapters, one supplementary article, and a case study. We will also explore Web sites and other material as it becomes available. The cases and articles were selected to match the program.
A term project is expected from every student.
Exercises will be based on Microsoft Dynamics.
