This course in English-Bulgarian translation, part V, focuses on developing students’ ability to produce accurate translations of literary texts. The main challenge addressed is achieving a profound understanding of the source text, which is essential for conveying meaning, register, style and cultural context effectively. Through translating diverse literary works, students will apply and expand their linguistic competence alongside their skills in literary and cultural analysis. Special attention will be given to identifying and resolving linguistic and cultural asymmetries between English and Bulgarian, fostering a deeper awareness of how language and culture shape interpretation and expression in the translation process.
