This course is about managing the flow of products from origin through transformation (i.e. procurement, production, and distribution) to delivery to the ultimate user. The supply chain management process is directly linked to e-commerce, as it is the biggest commercial user of Internet services. The course is designed to be strategic in orientation, emphasizing the framework of the supply chain and the context of management decisions. It does not emphasize quantitative methods.
For each session, we will have one hour of lecture and discussion, a case study, and conclude with new developments in the field, except for the first and last sessions. Readings include designated chapters, case studies, and supplementary articles. We will also explore websites and other material as it becomes available. The cases and articles were selected to develop issues to match the program.
A term project is expected from every student.
