MA Program: Polititcal Pathologies of the Global World

The purpose of this course is to make students familiar with contemporary concepts of organized crime in comparative perspective. Special attention is payed to operations of organized criminal networks in legal and illegal markets and their infiltration in politics and public institutions. The course will also focus on the policies targeted at counteraction to organized crime and applied regulatory measures.
Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to:
- Understand how organized crime works;
- Analyse criminal markets operated by organized crime;
- Analyse the impact of organized crime on democratic institutions and the public;
- Formulate policy measures addressing the activities of organized crime.
