The general part of the course examines the intake, resorption, distribution, biotransformation and elimination of xenobiotics and their metabolites from the body, as well as some quantitative characteristics of toxicokinetics. Special attention is paid to the biotransformation of xenobiotics and the importance of these processes for drug metabolism, drug toxicity and safety in pharmacotherapy. Attention is paid to the realization of the toxic effect (toxicodynamics).
In the special part of the course, attention is paid to the toxic effects on various organs and systems. The toxicological characteristics of the most common intoxications with toxic substances of an industrial and domestic nature are presented, i.e. the most common causes of acute exogenous poisonings in the household, and those caused by medicinal substances, including their symptoms and first aid measures.
