Types of contracts
Read and discuss the terminological correspondences.
В българската облигационно правна теория договорите най-често се разделят на: едностранни и двустранни, организационни и престационни, главни и акцесорни, възмездни и безвъзмездни, каузални и абстрактни, консенсуални и реални, формални и неформални, и др.
In common law jurisdictions there are many types of contracts distinguished according to different criteria. The most familiar among them are: written and oral (according to the medium used) express and implied (according to form), main and collateral or ancillary (according to function), unilateral and bilateral (according to the distribution of obligations), preliminary and final.
Statutory regulations in both UK and US, emerging from the English Statute of Frauds and Perjuries passed in 1677, require that certain contracts be in writing: e.g. contracts involving the sale of real property, contracts for sale of goods above a specified value, contracts by which one of the parties becomes surety (acts as guarantor) for the other party’s debts or obligations, contracts in consideration of marriage, etc.
